Position: Game Programmer
Developer: Invisible Walls
Engine: Unreal Engine
Language: C++

General: As a game programming intern at Invisible Walls I got to work on two different games, Neighbors and Deep Rock Galactic, for approximately a month each. Both games were already released to PC and consoles and had active player bases, which meant I was both creating new content and managing older existing systems. Both projects are made in Unreal Engine and C++.

Deep Rock Galactic - Weapons Upgrades: When working on Deep Rock Galactic I made several upgrades for existing weapons, such as a grenade launcher and a crossbow. The upgrade I made for the crossbow required me to change both the stats of the weapon and the animations depending on the state of the weapon. The grenade launcher required me to both change the related C++ files and Blueprints.

Neighbors - Tutorial Systems: For Neighbors I worked on the tutorial system that new players go through to familiarize themselves with the games chaotic gameplay systems. This required designing the layout of the tutorial level in an intuitive way, and also creating a robust system for keeping track of the new players tasks, so that they are unable to break the tutorial and get stuck.

Rapid prototyping and working with designers: For both games I was working with game designers to make sure that my features were up to their standards. I worked iteratively, creating prototypes and asking for feedback from the designers. I would also expose certain parameters from my features to the designers, allowing them to do the final tweaking and polishing of the features.

In the pictures you can see the grenade launcher I made upgrades for in Deep Rock Galactic, along with some gameplay from Neighbors.
